Safi is a town on Morocco’s Atlantic coast, renowned as a mecca for craftsmen. It embodies ancestral know-how handed down from generation to generation. Safi pottery is distinguished by its refined aesthetics, rich motifs and unique manufacturing techniques. They are hand-crafted from high-quality, locally extracted clay. Craftsmen use traditional potter’s wheels to shape these decorative objects.
The pottery is distinguished by its brilliant glaze, created using natural pigments. Cobalt blue is emblematic, evoking Andalusian and Arab influences. Other colors such as green, white, yellow and brown are also widely used, providing vibrant or soft nuances depending on the piece.
These potteries reflect a deeply-rooted cultural identity. Each piece embodies Safi’s artisan heritage, a living testimony to Morocco’s artistic wealth.
